I am trying to run a piece of company software that needs to conect to the internet the first time it is run to activate it. When ever I try to long in I get a line that says "Please connect to the Internet which of course I am already. Could it be the firewall that is causing this to happen? I have went into the firewall settings and allowed the program but still no luck. I also have windows live care installed for your information

thanks,
rb56

I would look at the program itself. Lots of company software is designed around dial up. See what options it has for connection. Checkwith your company IT people.

Thanks for the reply Corkyg,

I spoke with the IT support for the co, I am a private contractor for them. This program (digiquote ee) is designed to use broadband and works fine I'm told with XP. The problem lies in the fact that they are not yet up to speed with Vista as very few have migrated to it. I'm pretty sure that it has something to do with the inbound and outbound firewall in Vista or Windows One Care but I haven't been able to figured it out yet. By the way I'm using Vista for business.

Thanks.

find out what ports they use.

If it's a firewall issue it should be easy and guaranteed to solve.

If it's some other Vista incompatibility perhaps not. As a legacy app you may want to try running it as an admin just in case it has UAC issues.
