Vista won't boot

Updated Vista with the latest security patch, it prompted me to reboot, but now it won't boot into Vista at all. All I get is a brief BSOD flash, and it reboots itself. Won't boot into Safe Mode, no Last Known Good Configuration, the Automatic Repair option after inserting DVD says it can't automatically repair the problem.

Any ideas?

you're probably going to have to reinstall, if safe mode and repair will not work.

You can try manually changing the registry back to a prior point before the install. I have done this a number of times on XP machines. I would think that it would be possible on Vista. You would either need to hook your current drive up to another computer, and change some files around or boot on a cd into recovery console or some other program that will allow you to manipulate files on NTFS. Basically you navigate to this following folder, "C:\Windows\System32\config" and rename the follow files with an extension like .old; SYSTEM SOFTWARE SAM SECURITY and maybe COMPONENTS. After this you will copy over files from you system restore directory from a recent date that worked and rename them "SYSTEM" "SOFTWARE" "SAM" "SECURITY"and other other registry files Vista requires. I have not tried this on VISTA so there might be some other files to copy over; I have a "COMPONENTS" file as well. If you are not comfortable with this then I suggest doing a reinstall.
