I just got my copy of Vista Business from Power Together and would like to install it on my laptop. The only thing I'm not sure of right now is whether it'll run Visual Studio 2003 without issue. I need to keep using Visual Studio 2003 instead of 2005 because of the requirements for a class I'm taking. Anyone know if it'll work without issue?

The changes will impact Visual Studio and thus we're unable to support Visual Studio .NET 2002 or Visual Studio .NET 2003 on Windows Vista.

Their advice IIRC is to run it in a VM. Which, if it's just for a class, should be fine for your needs. Go get ya a copy of VPC and have fun.

"unable to support" does not mean "won't work" :)

How you should interpret:
Give it a shot for something like this. Once you are ready to really develop software you should switch to 2005, use a VM or something.

Yeah... guess I could do it in a VM... I actually already have one set up... just need to install Visual Studio in it.

Doesn't 2005 have the same issue? I thought it was the next version that's "built for Vista."

2005 has the must-run-as-admin issue. Beyond that I dunno I haven't had any problems. It's officially supported tho so if there are problems MS will help.

Yep the recently released SP1 supposedly fixes some of the issues but it's wierd, since applying I've actually had more issues. Anyways, the SP1 "Vista edition" is in beta with a release planned "soon".
