Vista & video previews

In XP to get it to stop reading previews of xvid and other codec files that would cause it to crash I used to unregister shmedia.dll

This doesnt work in Vista. When I'm in a folder with xvid files Com Surrogate stops working. Does anyone know a way to make it stop trying to preview the video files? Any inside info Stash? 😉

If theres any way to make the previews work that would be great or if I have to disable them completely thats ok too.

Thanks

JB

I have this issue as well, but I'm not running the FINAL version of Vista. I thought this might be fixed with the final release.

From what I read online its a problem with the codec not Vista.

That version of ffdshow works great. Only codec you need installed.
