Thanks for the link! Although it's not real clear about what networking functionality Home Basic has compared to Home Premium.

Wow... I know that the Starter version is intended for poorer countries, but it almost seems Mircosoft went out of their way to cripple it. Setting a max resolution at 1024x768 and a maximum RAM of 256mb makes it seem like they just want this version to fail.

The idea for starter i think is to put into machines for poor countries, so they can't afford the better hardware anyways.... although the 256mb memory i believe is a little excessive, 512 would be acceptable in my opinion.

Yep, you need an OS licensed for two sockets, which are Business, Enterprise or Ultimate.

Note that a quad-core CPU like the Intel Kentsfield will work with any of the SKUs, since it is a single socket.
