I've just uninstalled my NVidia video drivers (to prepare PC for latest forceware version). System rebooted, I logged in fine, closed the 'welcome' window, then suffered a loss of signal to the monitor. Now, I don't like hard resets so I found a shortcut to restart the PC from that state. Sadly, on reboot the monitor's 'gone black' before I've even reached the login screen! [Should have pressed f8 maybe :) ].

Can some good soul tell me what keys to press to restart the machine from the login screen?

Does booting into safemode help. You get that by tapping the F8 key at bootup then choose safe mode.

Thx for your reply tech - eventually realised I could try 'blindly' clicking on the red 'shutdown' button, and finally managed to do so. Had the same problem with the Win7 beta - and the solution here seems to be identical: unplug the telly and the 2nd monitor from the video card!
