Vista USB issue

My wife has a relatively new Vaio laptop with Vista. A few months ago, the whole thing fell apart on her and she sent it back to get it fixed (the factory memory was bad, so they replaced it). Since then, any time she tries to use a USB device that she had not used prior to the warranty work being done, a window pops up asking for software to install the device. Thing is, we're talking about a flash drive, not something that needs software.

Any idea what I can do? The Vaio didn't come with a Windows install disk, so it's not like I can put that in and install drivers from it. Any help is appreciated.

Had the same thing on a Compaq laptop. Woud not load USB drivers from any device. I wiped and reloaded and that fixed it. I know that is extreem but the laptop was full of HP/Compaq crapware also. Not only did it fix the USB problem the comuter is much snapper now!

I have Vista business on my laptop and i fI plug in a new thumb drive it will give me this message. I just let it do it's thing. IT only takes a few seconds.
