Vista Update problem.

For some reason vista is having a problem updating. Its hung up on this framenet 1.1 service pack 1 or something like that. Anyone else having this problem?
 
Not sure why it would hang on this. It's just the .NET framework...

Your title says error, your thread says hangs...does it fail to install or just stop? How long have you left it in that state?

Maybe your install disk is corrupt? Again not sure why it would hang on .NET install...
 
i vaguely remember something about the windows/softwaredistributution directory holding files for winupdate. you could try rooting around in there to see if there's any old update junk with the name .net . ????

I had the same problem with that update and so are a lot of other people. Doing all of the help suggestions for the error code you get doesn't help. I found the solution through a google search. Download the Framework 1.1 SP1 from Microsoft then install it manually and it will work. I didn't keep the DL link to the file, but a little searching will turn it up. Found a LINK.

Forgot to mention, that the next day, windows update wanted to install the same update again, so I let it do it and it worked fine.
