I can't wait until this thing is going to lock me out of my computer after getting a new video card or something...

How is this a waste of money?

Microsofts methods are to prevent casual pirating; you know.. that one person that shares the software with their buddy.
Eventually.. the casual piraters get scared and end up purchasing Vista; therefore Microsoft wins in the long run.

It will never prevent piracy all together; especially from the elite/enthusiasts crowd

Isn't casual pirating a lesser problem than the corporate pirates, and those who are "in business" making illegal copies? Doesn't this just turn out, like many copy protection schemes, to be a pain for legitimate users, but a mere speed bump for large scale pirates?

Ubunutu for the win. The only computer I own that's still running windows is my Laptop. I'd be dual booting Ubuntu if it had more than a 40gb HDD. I've got no reason to pay a company that only makes using it's software more difficult, and helps produce false positives and makes you re-register if you change more than two things on your computer.

Guess it's time for me to really figure out WINE instead of just messing around with it. If I can play all my games on Linux, there's no reason for me to have a windows comptuer. If I need to do a specific project using specific windows programs for school, that's what the bajillion computer labs are for(Well, there's tons of computers on campus for general use, all loaded with Microsoft Office ect).
