If you go to Windows Update and double-click on the Service Pack update line, it says SP1 beta.
Did they just forget to edit the message...?![]()

zdnet is reporting that MS accidentally released SP1 to a broader audience than they wanted.
We?re very pleased with the progress we?ve made with Windows Vista to date...
Since releasing SP1 to manufacturing on February 4th, we have made Windows Vista SP1 available to beta testers [January 23rd actually - SP1 RC 'Refresh 2' (RCR2) - VinDSL]
...MSDN and TechNet Plus subscribers, as well as Volume Licensing customers.
Today, a build of SP1 was posted to Windows Update and it was inadvertently made available to a broad group. The build was intended only for our more technically advanced testers, and was meant to only be offered to those with a specific registry key set on their PC.
For general availability, we are still planning to make SP1 broadly available in the mid-March timeframe.

BTW, speaking of pundits, look at the author's name - Adrian Kingsley-Hughes.
Can someone explain to me, how does a GUY get two last names?!?!?!?

One easy explanation is his mother remarried, did not want to change her name and gave both last names to her kid hyphenated.
So one reviewer seeing significant gains means others will stop complaining about not seeing gains? I don't think so.Originally posted by: VinDSL
Maybe this will put an end to the "I installed SP1 but ain't seeing no difference" posts...![]()
