Downloading mine now,I saw info over at OCUK Link. .

I have Vista x64 HP btw.

Mine is showing 121.5mb installation,29% done.I'll confirm it is the official SP1 once it has finished and installed ok.

Installed fine :),my new laptop just arrived as my SP1 was finally installed on my PC,guess I'll be putting SP1 on that later too .

UPDATED 22nd Feb
More info on the accidental release here (Thanks to Griffinhart and VinDSL for the info).

SP1 will now be available sometime in mid March via Windows Update for the general public.

A prerequisite update for SP1 was pulled. I believe that the update (KB937287) made changes to the Windows Installer service necessary to install SP1.

24 hours ago it was not showing up for me, though I'd heard a rumor that it would be available along with its prerequisites.

So I did the rc2 refresh registry change and downloaded that version.

Is there a standalone ISO image for this available on the general download site so I don't have to KEEP downloading SP1 for every new system I setup / reinstall?

Looks like it might just be for Vista x64 users,my new laptop which has Vista x86 says no update available ie.. SP1,however my main PC which has Vista x64 installed SP1 just fine.

It didn't show up for me at first with 64 bit. I had to refresh a few times, turn from Microsoft Update back to Windows Update, then back to Microsoft Update (refreshing every time) then finally the prerequisite showed up. Once I installed that, I had to do the operation I described all over again and SP1 showed up.

Give it a shot.

One person posted he got SP1 installed on his 32 bit Vista today via Windows Update,so looks like you just have to keep trying until it shows up.

The guy that got the SP1 32 bit version installed, posted a screenshot here near the bottom. .

Still not showing up for my laptop(has Vista x86 HP),the SP1 on my Vista x64 main PC seems to be working great still.

Actually it showed up now. I installed some outstanding updates and rebooted my system and now it showed up.

Even more interesting is that it shows that I also had a failed installation of the SP1 beta today even though I never even saw that.

The frothing-at-the-mouth impatience for Vista SP1 is a nice change from the tinfoil-hat, sky-is-falling reception that WinXP SP2 got for a while. However, I noticed there is a Service Pack blocking tool available for administrators who want to delay deployment.

Not only was SP1 never recalled, the actual problem update KB937287 is back on Windows Update today. I installed it onto my dad's PC this afternoon as a part of his normal updates through WU.

Yep,just installed the KB937287 myself on my new laptop today, anybody here with 32 bit Vista had any luck installing SP1 via Windows Update today?..I had no problems with Vista x64 finding it on Windows Update, however so far the 32 bit version is not coming up on my laptop via Windows Update.

Not yet, my Dad's pc is Vista32 and it's not yet available on his machine as of a few minutes ago, but I have it available on my two 64bit machines.

It detected after the first refresh. Installed and works like a charm. Haven't noticed any significant difference, btw..

From what I have read, the Beta versions can't be patched to the released version. you need to uninstall the beta SP1 from the control panel first.

Well that's good - I've had the RTM for a while now. It was given to me on a disc with other "goodies". :)
