Vista Sleep Issues

Make sure all of the latest reliability patches are installed from Microsoft. They deal with a lot of the issues. Upgrade your video drivers, too. If that doesn't work, try sleeping and resuming without all of your USB devices attached. If that works, plug one in at a time until you find the culprit.

Also, if you have a Creative XFi card, the latest drivers worked wonders for my sleep reliability. Who knew it was the sound card?

Good luck!

Any other symptoms? Does it try to resume but fail (e.g. seems up but no graphics/black screen?) or not resume at all? If you have a usb mouse, in device manager try turning off its ability to wake the machine. There is an open issue (and open KB) regarding moving the mouse while sleeping that can keep a machine from resuming later. Turning off the mouses ability to wake masks the issue.

Not sure what video card you have, but there's a beta Nvidia driver 169.12 that has in the release notes a fix for a sleep problem I was experiencing.

So far, I'm still in the process of testing it out to see if actually resolved any issues I was having with Nvidia driver vers. 169.04 and 169.09.
