Vista Remember Folder Views\Settings

Hey everyone, I'm having a very annoying issue, for some reason Vista wont remember my folder size, postiton, or layout. Everytime I reboot it changes it. It's driving me crazy how do I get it to remember? Even the control panel after I reboot will position itself back at default.

I don't think that helps.. I think this is a bug in Vista and hopefully it is addressed in SP1. I noticed a slight improvement when I unchecked the box in Tools -> Folder Options -> View -> Remember each folder's view settings. This was enabled by default. I usually have my view set to Details, then have size, type, date modified. Then I "Apply to Folders".

I was thinking of doin the apply to folders, but I don't want all my folders looking the exact same.

This is definitely a known issue with Windows and just goes to show how broken parts of it is. I think there is a fix but it involves editing the registry, restarting the computer, clearing the folder settings, and resaving the folder settings the way you want them to show up. The last step you can definitely screw up on and then you're back to square one doing the regedit, restarts, etc. The system that Vista has in place to remember and assign folder settings makes absolutely no f*cking sense.

super annoying problems with vista's explorer.exe not remembering individual folder view settings (eg: if you need to have one dir sorted by name and another by 'date modified')

right?

i tried to fix this back when i was running vista, with some reg modifications i found but it turned out that the mods didn't help fix the problem for me.

If SP1 doesn't fix this bad screw-up then I may just resort to running maybe xplorer2 as a replacement file manager.

I've got it kinda working now, I re-enabled UAC and now it remembers postion but still not icon size...lol
ohh vista

I have been having similar issues and tried some of the registry fixes which may have helped for a while but it's still not perfect. Defintately one of the most annoying bugs in Vista.
