VISTA Reactivation

OK, I'm curious to find out if anyone else had this happen. Early this morning was the changeover to Daylight Savings Time. When I woke up and checked the computer, there was a big message stating there had been a change to VISTA and I needed to activate it! I did nothing to the system but turn off the monitor overnight so the only thing that changed was the time. Of course I wasn't able to re-activate VISTA online so I had to call. Fortunately it was relatively quick and painless but definitely not what I want to wake up to!

I really like VISTA and this is the first problem I've had with it that wasn't related to a piece of software I'd installed. I hope this "feature" of VISTA gets fixed or I'll be reformatting my drive and going back to Windows XP (or moving to a Mac!).

I think this problem is related to the failure of BIOS Validation check, its a bug. MS has issued a patch via Microsoft Update or you can directly download it from MS Update Website.

I'm running Vista Ultimate and the time change caused no problems. I use the .gov sync although I'm not sure if that matters.
Sorry to hear that you had a prob but I guess Vista is "touchy". I have heard folks had to reactivate just changing drivers or a videocard but again I have done both and no probs.

I know somebody that did a BIOS update and he had to reactivate his Vista, anyway it's not really a hard thing to do,bit of a pain yes but easier enough to reactivate Vista.

I didn't have this problem, but it wouldn't surprised me. I had to reactivate once when I updated to the latest nVidia chipset drivers. Then I found there was a hotfix for my particular problem on the Windows Update page.

One thing I've noticed. I have Home Premium installed on two other computers and Ultimate installed on my main box. I've had far more problems with Ultimate than the Home Premium installs. In fact, except for my complaints about performance, the Home Premium installs have been very stable.
