FVCK. WMP just reset all of my music's track numbers to 0. Looks like it's time for a format.

Neither the latest XP64 drivers nor the latest Vista beta drivers on their site seem to work for me at all (and yes, I'm disabling the signed driver check at every boot).

What am I thinking....obviously it's too much to ask for the world's largest producer of sound cards to provide some sort of working drivers for an operating system due to be RTM within a month...;)

if i had my Audigy 2 working i *possibly* MIGHT have Vista running as my primary OS already...who knows.

I am tempted to get RC2, but then i see it might take a few more months to get more stable drivers and tools, eg. diskeeper etc. and espeically overclocking tools for my radeon, I very much need Ati Tray Tools :)

Otherwise no problems w/ vista.

Yeah, ATI Tray Tools would be nice too. However as I posted a few posts up, I did manage to get my Audigy 2 working in RC2 x64 though. It wasn't exactly straightforward though, I installed the drivers and it didn't work...then all of a sudden it did work.

Anyways, I've been running Vista (RC1->5728->now RC2) for over a month without so much as booting to my XP64 partition (with the exception of last night to run the RC2 installer from Daemon Tools :p), and I'd switch to RC2 as my primary OS in a heartbeat at this point, were it not for ATI's lack of OpenGL support in their current drivers. All my Direct3D games (the ones I've tried so far at least) run great, as well as they do in XP, but I can't quite give up XP as long as OpenGL games are a no-go on ATI cards.

So has WMP11 in this latest build screwed up anyone else's mp3 tags?

I just imported my music from my XP64 partition, and most of the tracks that I knew to have track numbers beforehand seem to be fine. There are a lot listed as 0, but I had a lot of un-numbered tracks to begin with, and I can't tell if there are any more now than there were before...

What he said! Anyone try booting to the DVD and seeing if they can clean install on NForce4 SATA RAID? As of RC1 you still had to start the install from an existing XP install.

I only have one real complaint right now - the built-in defragmenter sucks :p

It doesn't show any details about what it's doing (or even which drive it's working on), you just click a button to start and it says "this may take from a few minutes to a few hours...". Real helpful...

Not that much of an issue really, but I'll be happy with there's a new version of Diskeeper for Vista :p

Shawn;

I'm using RC1, and WMP11 is the doing something for me that no one else has posted about.

Instead of changing the song number to all "0", it duplicated all the songs in my music library(1,1 etc), so if there was 12 songs in a folder(album), now there is 24 songs!

I notice that RC2 has Nvidia drivers newer than the 96.33 Vista beta drivers on their site. RC2 comes with 96.77. Still no way to overclock video. Installed on a clean disk in about 20 minutes which is faster than previous versions. Feels a little faster. It's a big improvement since the first public beta.

Perfect disk is better anyway and they have a beta out for RC1 and up. Runs for 150 days. That is what I'm testing now. The first defrag is slow as hell, but faster than the built in... The scheduler works and the later defrags are much much faster...

Yes I e-mailed their tech support, The X86 is first and the X64 will come along... It is still beta also... They told me when Vista comes out of on the market their goal was to have a fully Vista compatible product on the street... X86 and X64. Their regular product for XP supports both X86 and X64 also.... I use both.

i installed the x64 version last night. The process was pretty straight forward and clean. This thing will have a slight learning curve compared to previous OS's like Win98->Win2K->WinXP.

Stability so far is good, havent had a single issue in the 18 hours of playing with it. Steam will install, download and install the games, but wont run any games for me.

Symantec Corp v10 wont work, AVG AV will install but the OS refuses to start the process.
Office 2003 installed fine, big surprise :)

Ill need to do my homework on this OS, the new security is throwing me for a loop right now. The layout is a little different as well.

One thing I did find interesting. Movie maker refused to start because it says my 6800GT isnt a qualified video card. But when I check their requirements, it state DX9 video card heh.

oh, and according the dxdiag this RC shipped with DX10.

Ill keep updating as I play with this thing.

Edit: Update, it appears for whateve reason the the OS is unable to enable 3d acceleration on my 6800GT. This may explain why CS:S also fails to start and why Movie maker craps itself.

I'm using Avast 4.7 home free edition on RC2 x64, and it seems to work fine.

While I'm not sure what "fre" means, it certainly doesn't mean "French." The ISO that I downloaded from the links above is an English version.

I was in the middle of downloading RC2 64bit. I paused because I had to do a reboot. When I click on the download manager it now takes me to the Vista home page. Can't get back to the download page. Maybe they've reached their limit of general public downloads. Anybody else having a similar problem?

Same here. I was downloading it earlier today now it is gone. I can't even resume my download. :(
