1. When booting Vista , should there be a couple of black screens in the process ? After the Welcome screen , I have it for about 40 seconds .
2. When trying to do Program Uninstall from Control Programs - Programs , when highlighting many programs , the Change/Uninstall option disappears . I have Adminstrator Priveleges .

1. Both my laptop and desktop show black screens when booting vista. I guess this is normal
 
i have a black screen for a short period of time on boot, but it doesn't last 40 seconds. i guess it depends how fast your computer is.
 
Yeah, I get the black screen as well. It lasts much longer after doing the updates that require a reboot. I've always thought that this is ridiculous and I can't believe Microsoft would do that. My first thought is always, "Uh oh, is it broke?"
