Vista not showing more than 2gb of ram?

Hacp

Lifer
I have 3gb on my laptop, bios shows 3gb, but vista only shows 2gb. WTF? CPUZ shows 3gb. Help!

lol

how about this, I have vista 32 bit ultimate and it shows all 6gb of my RAM. Should I get the 64-bit edition still to fully utilize my RAM?

Only if you have the need. And I'll bet you don't.

Yes. Otherwise nearly half your RAM is going to waste at the moment.

I had same problem w. Vista and fixed it this way:
. click control panel
. click Administrative Tools
. click System Configuration
. on top row of tabs, click on the BOOT tab
. click the Advanced options button
. once you are in the BOOT Advanced Option menu, make sure you
. Uncheck the Maximum memory check box - it should be blank
. you must restart your computer once this is done.

I had it checked and all I could ever see was a fraction of the RAM I actually had.

I unchecked it, rebooted, and all is well now.

Hope your fix is this easy
