Vista Media center and Xbox 360 remote

Hey i am going to put together a htpc. I have an xbox 360 remote but i don't have a receiver to control media center. Will this work?

I think that wireless receiver is meant to be used with the 360's gamepad, not IR devices.

Considering the difference in cost is only $7, might as well go with the bundle. I'm having a difficult time finding any receivers NOT bundled with a remote...though you could check RadioShack.
