Vista internet problems and program failures

I got vista back in mid March on a Dell XPS400 and I have always had internet problems with it.

-Every computer on my home network runs fine so I know it is not router related.
-I once blamed McAfee for it, and disabling some of the filtering helped for a short while.

My problem used to be that every web page I would go to would time out, it was very frustrating.

Now it is something different..

It started out with my home page (google) not completely loading up and then going to no other sites... and AOL instant messanger not recognizing me online anymore, the Buddy list would be open but it still found me to be Idle and I couldn't send messages...

Now... any internet program I open up it won't do anything, AIM just says connection error and Opera web browser just sits there and then stops responding and I have to exit it using Ctrl+Alt+Delete


This is so frustrating. New computer and the internet has never worked correctly.

I have done virus checks, checked for ad aware and have defrag'ed.

Help!


Also: Now when I return to my windows password screen after being idle for 20 minutes it takes like 2 minutes to open up... it is really slow.

Have you checked firewall settings?

Remove Mcafee and then try surfing.
Mcafee is a POS in my humble opinion.
