No, on Vista DX9 is installed alongside DX10 so it retains native compatibility.but i seem to recall that vista only emulates dx9

No, it's installed alongside DX10. You install DX9 onto Vista the same way as you do onto previous OSes.i could have sworn i read something about it just being emulated in vista

I think there is still a common misconception that Vista is no where near XP performance. In my experience, Vista is very close and keeps getting closer with every driver release.
