Business is the closest to XP pro. Most people don't need that for a home environment though. I think Home Premium is the best match for most people. I'd probably stick with 32bit for the time being. You can always get the 64bit disc from MS for about $10 shipped.
Home Basic >> XP Home
Home Premium >>> XP Media Center
Business >>> XP Professional
Ultimate combines the best features of both Home Premium and Business; it has no XP equivalent.
I recommend either Home Premium or Business, depending on the features you need. Here is a very nice and comprehensive list with all the features for every edition.
I ran Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor program to scan my system and suggested me to upgrade to Vista Business.
I read link from Noema and I feel that Business version is like too much bloat like some stuff that I don't need and Home Premium might lack what Business have such as Fax Program.
