There's nothing new about that. ATI has done something like that for PCIe cards since one of the 5.x Catalyst drivers, and I think TurboCache was around the same timeframe.

anyway, no point doing it, will only make your games worse or keep them as it is.

Games that use less than 2GB of system RAM on a PC with 2GB of system RAM, but use more than 256/512MB of VRAM could make use of it.... (possibly thinking along the lines of Doom 3 etc here, tho I'm not sure how much system RAM it uses)
 
Games don't really benefit from 512MB VRAM, so this is a useless feature for now but might be handy in the future. If you have a graphics card with 256MB or more then system memory is more important (especially in games like Battlefield 2 which require about 1.5MB system memory for high textures.)

As for the topic, though; Since when was Turbocache/Hypermemory "cool"? This is basically exactly that.
