With Vista, can you get any game you install to show information in the 'Games' folder?

In the screenshot below I clicked a game which now shows gaming information on the right side pane, that info is what I'm talking about if I can get HalfLife2 to show something as well in that pane?

THANKS

Yes, but wouldn't that effect all the Windows games installed by default too?

I think Windows downloads game information for display in that folder. It's possible that your firewall is blocking that request.

That wouldn't make any sense because all the games would not show information and all the games installed by Windows and HP are showing by defualt, the only game that is not is the game I installed.

I've already read that it has to be a game supported by Vista to load the information somewhere.

Thanks but this isn't a firewall issue.

Newer games ship with Game Definition Files that provide the picture and ratings info. Legacy games require Vista to download the info.

The publisher simply needs to support it by telling windows where to get the information. You can see http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-u...px#Game_Explorer_Tasks for details.

I know all this already, that's why I asked the question to see about making any game work...

Why bother to use the Vista Games window? Its slow as molasses every time you access it. Better to copy all you game shortcuts to a single folder and then add that folder to the taskbar as its own toolbar. Instant access.

It opens much faster on Service Pack 2.

Really, launching a game from their is slower?

Well I just thought I'd pile them all in there, hopefully to make them with the gaming information that appears in the right side pane.
