Vista: Full temp folder?? Update

That's really weird. From all the problems you've been having so far it sounds like your copy of vista is fubar. Where did you get it?

The error is that the drive that contains " temp folder " is full or is not accessible, not that the temp folder is full.

How much free space do you have on the windows partition?

This is a smat@55 comment - but with all the bloat Adobe instals it isn't surprising you are running out of temp space. 😀

Seriously, they load way too much just to be able to read PDF files. 20+ MB download - no telling how much Hard Drive space it needs on install.

BLOATWARE!!!!!! to the nth degree.

Adobe Reader 8 isn't that bad, you should try it sometime. Besides, I bet none of your 3D games are paperweights anymore. 🙁

Edit: Meant to say Reader 8 instead of Reader 7. I agree that Reader 6 and 7 were lousy releases.

I use Acrobat Reader 5. It still works fine.

Did you install Vista onto another partition besides the actual C: partition? I know sometimes Windows will think that it is saving to the default partition when in reality it's saving to another partition.

Well this is what I did. I (at first) when installing Vista, I choose *Update from XP to Vista- keeping my files and folders*. That failed due to the blue screen of death upon restarting my computer when installing Vista. So, I rebooted the system without the Vista CD. Once XP loaded, I loaded the Vista cd and this time choose: Install fresh (loosing all data on pc). It installed and worked fine. I noticed that once Vista was installed and running, there was an Old.Windows. Folder. This folder contained all of the data in my old partition. So I was like w00t! I copied my 30gb's of music and 30,000 sound effects for my editing programs. (Thought I lost them for good).

I took what I needed from the Old.Windows. Folder and deleted

That is bug with Adobe installer, not with Vista. Nothing with size of folder. But with folder permissions that have changed in Vista.

FEAD thing unpacks stuff in that folder. Make sure you copy contents of it (you have it on Run dialog) somewhere else, and then run installer from there.

Yeah, Adobe blows with this one...do they have testing dept?

How difficult is it to figure that your app won't even install on target OS?

Its a bug with the adobe installer I think. Here is what I did to get it working. Once you start the application it unpacks all the adobe files then it asks you to install. Before you click ok go to User\AppData\LocalLow\Netopsystems and copy the adobe folder that is in there to some other location. Once you have copied it click on the Acroread.msi inside the folder to install. Then it should work ok.

That's very normal to have an old Windows folder, see this link.

The Windows.old folder (including Windows.old.000 folder) only appear in Vista when you?ve performed an installation from an older operating system. Even if you do a clean installation or an upgrade, you?ll still get the folder which retains your old settings, Program Files and usually your My Documents folder as well.

Btw it's safe to delete the old Windows folder, shows you how in the link.

Back to your problem which is weird,do you have UAC on?..tried CCleaner?
