So will I be able to do a fresh install of Vista Ultimate 64 bit edition on a newly-built custom computer? Basically I'm wondering if I can build my computer and right out of the box install Vista, like I would with XP. Are all the drivers for the mobo, etc. all included on the Vista disc??? Seems like a basic question but I don't know the answer to it.

FYI, my Mobo will be:

Gigabyte GA-MffSLI NForce 4

Thanks!

They may be included and they may not??? The only answer is MAYBE.

It is not Microsofts responsibility to include any and all device drivers known to man. That would be a nearly impossible task. However with that said; Microsoft has included most of the drivers etc needed for most installations on the most common systems.

As the system builder it would be up to you to buy the parts needed ensuring those parts manufacturers have the Vista supported drivers etc you need included with the purchase or available for download from their respective web sites.

My nForce 570 board came with all the drivers built into Vista. I didn't have to install anything other than my TV Tuner drivers.

That is what I did 3 days ago. 64-bit Ultimate worked right away after install.
2 pieces of my older hardware have no drivers for 64-bit (Epson scanner, and TV GO card)
One of the many reasons I went with 64-bit version is my memory. Now, I use 6gigs which will be expanded to 8 and 16...
All I have to say, it is a very, very good OS!!!
