Vista file sharing driving me crazy.

im trying to share a drive from a Vista Ultimate computer, and when I try to access it from another computer I get this error message.

I have one PC running RC1 and it has a shared hard drive on it that I have no problems accessing from the other PC.

PC1 "Blueberry"
Wired Network
FruitNet Workgroup
Vista Ultimate RC1

PC2 "Robot-PC"
Wireless Network
FruitNet Workgroup
Vista Ultimate Retail

I have changed the user accounts so they both have the same name. Neither computer has a password. PC2 is my HTPC so i dont want to have to type in a password...

figured it out. needed to add "everyone" to the users in the security tab of the drive. grumble.
:Q

You definitely do not need to do that.

what shall i do then? do i need to add every user from every computer in the house?

i still cant access my recored tv. says i dont have permission? is this drm issue, or does something need changed?

Depending on your specific needs it possible to share file without giving permission to Every One.

However nothing is wrong in giving permission to Every one if that is what you need.

Successful Sharing involves some general consideration in Network settings, http://www.ezlan.net/sharing.html

As well as specific adjustment of each computer according to what it is allowed to be shared.

Nothing wrong with giving Everyone share permissions. But the post made it sound like Everyone was added to the NTFS permissions for an entire drive. Which is not necessary and Not Good.

Did you try to share an entire drive with Vista?

the entire drive is shared. thanks.
Well if you set to share the entire Drive as one global unit, then Stash is right, you are taking a risk with the whole system.
