Vista file explorer - getting rid of collapsible groups?

Kadence

At some point my C: folder started to display in file explorer by collapsible group - Application, File Folder, Text Document, etc. How do I get rid of these groups and go back to the normal view? Under the Views tab, the List view is the only one that isn't organized by group.

Click menu/tools/options and restor defaults in all tabs.

If you dont have the menu bar enabled then click ORGANIZE/Folder and Search Options.

Thanks, but surprisingly that didn't fix it. I restored defaults under both Folder Options>General and Folder Options->View, but the C: drive folder (and only the root C: folder, not any subfolders that I know of) still displays by collapsible groups.

Looks like you have Group by Type on. Here's how to change it back:

Go to Organize-->Layout-->Menu Bar. This will show the typical Windows File/Edit/View/Tools/Help menu in your current Explorer window.
Click View-->Group By-->(None)

Hope that helps.
