Vista Easy Transfer Cable

Nocturnal

Lifer
Does this cable exist without the label of being a Vista Easy Transfer Cable or is this cable proprietary as far as the wires inside the cable go?

Anyone prefer one brand over the other?

I saw these at CompUSA last week. Huge ripoff. As far as I can tell it's just a USB crossover cable with a fancy label on it.

If you have Gigabit NICs on both PCs, then just a standard Cat5e (or CAT6) patch cable will work at VERY high speed. No crossover cable is required for Gigabit NICs.

Go to Best Buy, but cable, use cable & return cable. Worked for me.

:roll::thumbsdown:

Use a router.
If you need to regularly need to copy data, get a gigabit router/switch + ethernet cables...

Here at Anandtech the moderators frown upon this type of behavior. Just a FYI. It's also costing the company you bought it from money to have to send it off to be re-packaged or it will be sold at a loss since it is an open boxed item. That's not cool at all.
