Hi everyone
I have encountered above error (after having several other errors previously), and am unable to get "over" this, it keeps coming back. I know this error has been responded to before, but most of the responses are beyond my knowledge level of computers.
So, I'm about to buy a new computer, but wondered if I have any hope of recovering data without having to consult Mr Fixit?
Thanks a lot!

If the disk isn't corrupted, you could remove the disk and attach it as a slave to another machine. You may be able to read the files even if the OS is corrupted. If so, you can transfer your critical files to any other drive or flash drive and transfer them back to your new installation.

Once you retrieve your files, you can try to format the drive to see if you can continue to use it. If it's thrashed, it's worth its weight in doorstops.

If you don't know enough to follow the above instructions, ask a friend who knows what it means. It's pretty simple, but it involve

The behavior you describe could be caused by a virus so be sure the other machine is fully protected and backed up before you start.

Good luck... And now, you know why backing up your files is so important. :)
