All I can say is WOW! The GUI is phenomenal the Aero glass them is so slick. I also love the windows sidebar and the all the cool gadgets. I just know there will be some awesome plugins in the future. Best of all is Vista includes MEDIA CENTER! I was just so impressed when it first booted up. Ignore the nay sayers, no one ever wants to say anything good about microsoft, it helps one justify why the didn't pay for any of the MS software to begin with. Once you go vista I gurantee you won't use XP again.

I guess after 6 years I was expecting something amazing, and yet it honestly feels exactly like the 2k -> xp upgrade, visual only with a few necessary core components updated.

Here's a good read on new features introduced in Vista. For those who're quick to point out that these cosmetic features look like from Mac OS X and Linux, that's fine. I guess it's damned if MS does and damned if MS doesn't.

So it seems much more than just visual appearance. Yes, I was hoping I would be in awe and shock too. But exactly what makes an OS "amazing"? I'm hoping it runs faster though. The performance is terrible compared to Windows XP. But once Aero is turned off, it's pretty snappy.
You do realize that you look foolish continuing to post this FUD right?Originally posted by: VirtualLarry

Yep, that's Vista in a nutshell.

Video card performance and driver issues are the first thing that came to my mind also. Assuming your hardware supports it Aero should be just as "snappy" as classic, if it isnt bug it.What kinda graphics card are you using? Aero depends more on the performance of the graphics card. Just like OSX.
