Vista backup vs SyncBack

I'm trying to decide what to use to perform monthly backups of my main computer. I used SyncBack back when I had WinXP and was pleased with the program. I tried Vista's backup utility and it seemed to work alright over my network which was good but I'm not sure if it is doing a full backup each time or just adding whatever is modified.

I know that if you delete the original (full) backup then subsequent backups won't work until you do a "full" backup again. Does that mean it is iterative?

SyncBack works with Vista now so I'm thinking of converting to that. Anyway, I just formatted my external hard drive and am ready to do a backup today.

Any recommendations?
