Vista and software to record VOIP?

Hello
I use Yahoo Messengers Voice VOIP regulary to make phonecalls out of the country. But since I have a hearing injury I need to record the calls. I sometimes need to go back and listen to the recording to know exactly what was said, especially when someone calls me in a noisy environment. When I ran XP Pro x64 I used vEmotion which worked great for this. But so far all the VOIP recording software I have tried for Vista does not work.

I have tried;
vEmotion
MX Skype Recorder (It worked until I rebooted the computer!)
Audacity
EasyVOIP Recorder

Any suggestions to a software that can do this and that actually work with Vista?

As I said, I have already tried that already. Have two licenses to the software, and have got official reply. It does not work in Vista x64 (or XP x64 where I was running it before).

No-one that has a single suggestion for a piece of software to record VoIP that _works_ on Vista x64?

I was going to suggest Total Recorder but checked their website and unfortunately it isn't vista 64 bit compatible. There are similar "record everything" type softwares out there but I don't know the names of them or if they work in vista 64.

I do have a makeshift solution which should work though, but it will only work if your VOIP is played back through your soundcard (bluetooth won't work here). And I know what you said but we'll use Audacity here b/c it HAS to work in this method b/c it's recording analog.
You're setup would be:
1) plug a y-splitter cable into the speaker out port of soundcard
2) plug one end into your analog headset or headphones and the other end loops back into your soundcard's line input jack
3) set Audacity to record from "line in" and press record during call

The downside is it won't record what you say, only the person you're talking to, but like I said this is just a makeshift solution

Hmm. That is a workaround that I have thought about. But I will keep looking for a software solution first. I have tried MX Skype Recorder. And it worked perfectly, until I restarted the computer. After that it wont recognize Yahoo Messenger calls anymore, only Skype. I have been in touch with the makers of the software, but sadly their idea of support was for me to install software to allow them to remotely control this computer - something that is a direct violation of the network security policy here.

Ok. Loopback of sound (What U Hear with creative) really dont work well in Vista. Most audio software can not access it or get exclusive control over it. So I enabled the onboard audio, made a Y-cable and fed the sound into the second soundcard. This is the only way that really works well in Vista that I have tried so far to record audio at all. Not only for recording VOIP. But also recording audio when doing screencapture of applications etc. It seems doing output and input at the same time is very difficult. Maybe it is because of Creative's drivers. Or it is applications that need to mature to work better in Vista.

Don't know the the answer to your question, but can you use FRAPS to record audio? There is another thread below this asking about capturing footage from the Warhammer pc game, I checked the FRAPS homepage and it claims to be able to capture audio as well
And does your creative card not have a line input jack? If it does I don't see why you'd have to enable the on board sound, but I don't really have experience with this What U Hear stuff so I don't know what the deal is

Because while the creative card play back sound (output) it is incapable of capturing audio in a stable fashion (under vista, works without a hitch in XP). about 1/2 the times the audio applications fails to get a lock on the input mapper (you can not use the line directly as it can ot get en exclusive "lock" on using the device in vista and all audio applications just spit out an initialization error). Only solution is to use another device to record what the first is playing.
THis is just plain silly, and I think it has to do with that 1. Audio drivers are not yet mature enough. 2. Audio applications are not yet up to date to deal with the changes in the audio architecture of vista.
