Whenever I go to my internship/work's URL to check email (I think it uses Horde), once I login, check really quickly, then logout, my internet doesn't work for about a minute, then it comes back on.

This happens every single time I go --- any idea what is causing this?

PS. I have no idea where this thread belongs

Try this, before and after logging in, and see if anything changes:

1) Go to a MS DOS Command Prompt
2) Type "IPCONFIG /all" (space between ipconfig and "/all")
3) Type "PING Yahoo.com"

Do it just before logging in, and just after you've lost connectivity and report any differences.

sounds like your work url is creating some type of secure vpn connection, which is taking a bit to release once you log off.

Do you hit a LOGOUT button and close the browser, or just log out, and go about your merry way browsing?

i'd try closing the browser down, to make sure it breaks the sudo-vpn connection.

Another thought... i was just reading something somewhere that there is a 'known' issue with Internet Explorer 8 and OWA causing this issue...

google IE8 OWA disconnect and you should find something

(assuming you're using IE8)
