Do they really give tours? I'm over at Fry's all the time, and if it's in the area...

I remember the first time I took a tour of a DC... I thought it was the coolest thing ever :D

it gets a little boring after working in one for 4 years, though :p

the smell could be anything, but as long as it doesn't smell like burning electronics, it's probably something from the hvacs or from the fans of thousands of servers running on full.

You smell the stench of nerd. Nerd-scent, pumped out 24 hours a day, every day of the year.

Yes it's bad for you. Get it on you and you'll never get laid.

:p

the funny thing about DC's is how much of it is just smoke and mirrors... basically useless crap (cool looking lights, neat floors, tough security measures, etc) to sell the client on the noc.

don't be won over by how it looks and try to get some real specs about uptime, power/network redundancy, how long the building can last on generator power, etc.
