Jimmy H. do you need to flash the bios in order to overclock? I also bought this card today but it is my first Ati card. Couldn't you just use something like powerstrip to overclock?

I could not get it to overclock wo/ flashing the bios. Tried Rage3d tweak like on my 8500 and it just lock up. It comes w/ 3.3ns infineon ram so I flashed it to 9500_33.BIN. After that i just keep going up w/ the oc using Rage 3d Tweak. Currently 325/325 mhz and still no artifacts U can get all the info u need to oc this bad boy here:

Very surprised at how fast ram is going as it seems to do better than some 9500 pros w/ 3.0ns. I heading back to OC some more and test w/ Call of Duty , MoH and Doom3 alpha (hey its not a slide show anymore

If you're lucky you might be able to get the core all the way over 360MHz and sometimes approaching 400MHz Although it wouldn't do so much since your memory might be running out of breath.

Please tell my you're below 1.5ghz. I've got a TI4200 64mb that hits 10,400 using coolbits & have a Pal 1800+ cpu oc'd to 1.7ghz also running agressive ram settings with 1gb of pc2100 crucial.

I was planning on getting this for the 400SC 3.2HT I just got I hoped to get in the neighborhood of 12,000 out of this card. Possible?

if u don need to buy now, wait till thanksgiving and see what video card best buy has on sale for $99 during it's annual black friday event.

so far it's been gf 3 ti200, and gf4 4200. i say this year it's going to be the 9600pro.

the 9600pro is twice the fps than the gf4 4200 at 1280x1024 when you have 4xAA, and 8xAF turned on. which is just perfect for xmas when half life2 comes out (obviously, u also need a 2.4ghz machine w/512megs ram too if u want to max everything.)

btw-which is faster? 9500pro or 9600pro?

and got a link that describes all the differences between the radeon and gf cards?? THX

Actually, the original 9600pros had a lot of headroom. I had gotten mine to something like 550/400 from a stock 400/300, was it? (it's been a while, forgive me) But the newer ones don't have the same luck. Many think ATi downed the voltage to stop the high OCing.

800Mhz DDR?? That's prtty impossible unless you did a Vmod on the RAM. Nonetheless, what you said is right. The initial 9600Pros are crazy overclockers.

I scored one of these 9500 Pros at CrapUSA. Now, what do I do with it? If I'm not much of a gamer, is it worth $130? BTW, there is supposedly 1 more at the Madison Heights, MI store. They weren't on the shelf, though. I had to summon a manager to scavenge the store to find where the employees had hid them.

If you arent much of a gamer it isnt really necessary for you. However if you do game sometimes its still a nice card to have. What did you upgrade from? If you decide that you don't want it I might buy it from you. I live in Grand Rapids MI.

My buddy grabbed a 9500 Pro after he saw my in action last nite. I finally maxed her out at core/mem 340/320 up from 275/270 stock. Brought Q3 at 16x12 4aa 8ani from 89fps to 108fps on my old XP 1700+ KT266a system. Everything seems silky smooth w/ 4x AA 8 ani @ 1028x768 except of course Doom 3 alpha were I only get ~ 28fps , but its playable I just bought the card for Half Life 2 and will have another for D3, just hoping for 10x7 No AA 8x ani max details in Half Life 2. Even if its not enuff grunt for Half Life 2 it really cleaned up MoH, Call of Duty Demo and UT2k3, manned I was just staring at how good everything looked at 4xx AA as I got mowed down in MoH multi LOL. $129.99 for DX9 luvin oc'd to near 9700 np stock levels, just amazed there not more peeps in on it. Still good deal in San Antonio CompUSA w/ alot on the shelf as of this morning but YMMV.
