I noticed today that the fan on my Visiontek Xtasy 6564 (Geforce3) video card was no longer spinning. I'm not sure when it happened, and so far the card is still working.

Is there any (easy) way to measure the temperature of the GPU? What temperatures should I be shooting for?

Do I need to be concerned about running it without a working fan?

What symptoms should I be on the lookout for?

Are people actually getting responses from Visiontek support?

Take the fan out and oil it. This happen to alot of fans on GPU. As logn as the HS is on the GPU, you need not worry much but try to get a working fan as soon as possible.

visiontek has history of failing/faulty fans.

I believe they still give support (even though they might seem out of business), ive read it somewhere on hardocp recently.

Anyways, if you keep ur geforce3 stock speed, then I dont think u have to worry too much. but if you are getting problems with programs locking up (more in 3d) then I suggest u contact visiontek or replace the fan.

for mine, it started to make loud whining noise about a month after using it, it didnt matter since i was going to replace the whole heatsink/fan anyways.. but i've lubricated it and it worked fine on my mobo chipset. but your case is different.. it completely stopped..
