*edit* i think compusa will honor the rebate if the manufacturer doesn't because thats how they advertised the card. i just bought it anyways because best buy sells the same card for $79.99 so i think i got a good deal on it.

just make sure you guys send in a copy of the receipt and make a copy of the barcode and keep the box just in case visiontek doesn't approve the rebate. i just printed out the page of the rebate break down and am just gonna go to compusa for the rebate if visiontek doesn't approve it.

Wow, I didn't know ANYONE made a PCI card with the GeForce 2 chipset, but obviously (based on the illustration) this company gave it a try.

They have to be using the wrong picture here because it does say AGP all over the site link and rebate. Are you guys planning on purchasing this card in store or online? I'd find out because if you order online, they might just send you an AGP card.

I would be careful. MX-200 is a severely crippled by memory/bus (64bit SDR), with only 1.2Gig memory bandwidth. Which means, TNT2 performance at best... For $29, it's a great deal, but don't expect miracles.

Ironically, if you go to the B&M they only have the PCI slips for this, go figure.

As for the performance, I had a Geforce256 first generation card that died on me. I bought it because it was cheap and I needed my dual display back but I have noticed no appricable difference between my old and new cards. If that is the performance you are looking for, this deal is quite good.

Spaz the card should, ut the drivers most likely will not. Your really better off buyin a a old card off pricewatch or ebay for a machine that old. It would be funny to see a machine that had a faster cpu than gpu. Their are 10.00 cards on new egg in the refurb section, but oos on those.

Moletron, ur right that B&M only have the rebate forms for the PCI,
if u guys got the AGP, just goto the compU$A web site and they will have the rebate form for the AGP there.

add me to those who believe its really an agp card (picture must be wrong. as has been said everything else including the item after ordering the item to the shopping cart.
i am considering getting this card for a pc i'm building for my wife. the main uses would be for office, pint shop/master apps and browsing. a few other things but no real taxing 3d games. monior size will probably be 17" but could be 19" if i find a great deal.

I picked up one of the AGP cards on Friday. The advertisement in Thursday's paper had both the AGP and PCI SKU# in it. The store only had the PCI rebate slip so I asked an associate and the went looking for the manager, came back about 5 minutes later and said to use the form, if they reject you bring in the letter and we will give you cash. I printed out the AGP slip from the website and used it. I has a different offer # than the PCI.

Also the instant rebate rang up on the AGP card. It rang up at $59.99.

I bought the AGP version and my friend bought the PCI one. There are two different rebate slips. I was able to download and print the rebate using Netscape but not Internet explorer for the AGP one(error msg.).

Does any one know how the Video card compares to a Tnt2 Ultra??

Considering the V3 "AGP" performed exactly like the V3 "PCI", and the V3 only had 16meg of 6ns SDRAM,
and could not run 3d using 32bit, this MX-200 is a huge upgrade, even if you only consider it's ability to
run games in 32bit. That is something the V3 can not do, and some modern games now require, such as
Links and Myst. You would need to run those games in 2d if you had a V3.

Benchmark comparison of all video cards in one place.

I'm not an expert, but it should work.

I'm not sure why Racketear said the drivers wouldn't work. Do device drivers these days require P2 instructions or something?

Most of the software in the x86 world is compiled for 486 (or even 386) or higher, so it'll generally run okay. But in this case, I'll defer to Racketear's explanation. I'm interested to know myself. :)

Even if this GPU is a mismatch for the CPU (it's much better than a P200MMX), there's no harm if it only costs $30. Heck, you can always transplant the graphics card to a better machine in the future if you wanted to.

The only objection to be made for this deal are the mail-in rebates and the MX/200 chipset is the GeForce family's black sheep (it sucks compared to ALL of its siblings).

If you need PCI, then it's a good deal. If you want AGP, I'd also check out eBay. There are quite a few GeForce2 MX cards for sale on the cheap, and these are significantly better than the MX/200. No rebate hassle.

Could somebody provide a link to the online PCI rebate form? Couldn't find PCI at the store...
