I just got a Geforce4 TI 4600 (Visiontek) and no matter what I tried or installed, I keep getting the follwoning eror message
"device got stuck in an infinite loope"I tried all pass and present drivers.
This is my first experience with NVIDIA and it's not a pleasent one. Looks like I may go back to ATI, since I never had that kind of problem with their cards.
If anyone has a fix, please let me know.

System configuration:

Porwer supply:400W (Don't even mention it, too many people is having this issue)
Abit KR7A-RAID
1.256GB DDR RAM (PC2100 MICRON)
1.5GHZ Athlon 1800+ XP
TEKRAM DC-390U3W
2 Quantum Ultra 160 18GB
PLextor Ultraplex Wide
Plexwriter 12/4/32
3com Etherlink XL 10/100 (3C905B-TX)

Removed components:

Soundblaster Live 5.1 Platnum

Windows XP boots fine and runs with no problems.
Except when I try to run an AVI, MPG,MP3 or any games I get the problem.
It appears a problem with DRIRECTX .

I can't paly games, or run any multimedia files.
Some programs keeps crashing the system.
I'm runing a fresh installation.

DrFatal, Going from ATI to nvidia drivers are a pain in the arse. I havnt tried it with xp, but know in 98 it was a hassle until I found a utility to clean the reg. Your probably experiencing the same problem. I have no idea where to get the utility. one thing ive done on win98 is go to regedit and search for ati tech , then delete each instance. I would highly recommend backing up your reg first to do this.

Well, I just installed Win2K (SP1) without updading to Directx 8.1 and everyhting seem to be runing fine.
All Media and 2D/3D files are running without any problems.
I'm pretty sure the problem is with the latest Directx included with Windows XP.
I'm going to see if I can find a beta version of directx 8.2 and up, and pretty sure this should fix this problem.
I would be dammed I get stuck with Windows 2000, not that there's a problem with 2K. XP just grew on me and
now I find it difficult to step back permanently.

I use this one

(I have no clue if it is a good one or not, just the first one I found and never looked for others)
