Visiontek Radeon 9100 or geforce 3?

Depends which Geforce 3. The Geforce 3 TI500 and TI200 w/128mb are faster, the standard TI200, I am pretty sure, isn't.

Bmx, what they are doing right now has an effect but not on performance. If you have to pick one, it depends on the Geforce 3 model, but I think the Geforce 3 will do better here.

Undoubtedly the Radeon, it's essentially a rebadged 8500 and its 2D, featureset, and performance is superior to the GF3 line.

its really confusing because I went to other websites and it has the radeon 8500 beating the geforce 3

the 9100 os not the le version of the 8500 the 8500 and the 9100 are exactly the same jsut updated bios

sorry I will clarify what i was saying the 9100 are equivalent to the LE versions of the 8500. The 9100's are all either 230,200 or 250 250 core/mem. (unless you find an ati built version)

I am getting the visiontek

here are the specs

I still think you are wrong the 9100 Radeon is exactly the same thing as the Radeon 8500 go ask someone, the 9100 just has an updated bios

well, theoretically the 8500 and the 8500 LE are exactly the same thing, just a different bios for the 8500

. the 9100's tend to be clocked at 250/250 or 230/230. if you buy a 9100 and expect to just be getting a regular 8500 then you will be disappointed.

dude, the specs even say that the clock speed is 250. that is EXACTLY THE SAME DAMN THING AS AN 8500 LE.

in terms of performance, the only difference is the clockspeed. beside that, many 8500's use BGA ram, where LE's don't, and LE's don't have dual monitor capability where the 8500's do. in terms of the chipset, however, they are identical except for yield. the 9100 is exactly the same as an 8500LE in terms of the chipset.

So back to the original question, get the GF3. The gf3 and 8500 are pretty much tied, but the 9100 will get its @ss handed to it if only clocked at 250/250, rather than 275/275. The only way i would get the 9100 is if it had dual display capablilities and the gf3 did not.

peace,
Butch

I have an Asus Geforce 3 Ti200 clocked at 251Mhz core / 530Mhz memory and it kills my 9100 in any game. It's even better in 2D😕

well, in that case you would be buying a 9100, as the Geforce3 does not support nView. my friends 64 MB retail 8500 was considerably faster than my old Geforce Ti200@ 230/540. i'm sure that you could get the 9100 to hit at least 275/275. the Radeon also has a better feature set and superior image quality. to me, it is a no brainer. in fact, i just bought a friend a powercolor 9100 for his birthday, and i had the option to get him a geforce3 for less than i paid for the 9100.

? BI-A-TCH! GO MAKE ME A SAMWICH!!?

Is there any question which to get?

Seriously though, I've owned the Gainward Ti450 128mb and an 8500 and I was much happier with the 8500, even though the drivers were piss when I owned both cards.
