my ge3 ti200 has started having problems.. it would boot up... go into windows and little artifacts and glitches would come on the screen and within a matter of 30sec-1min the whole os would freeze.
after further investigation i realizedthat the hsf on the ge3 was not spinning well.. it would seize up and havetrouble spinning. i therefore deduced that the gpu would overheat hence the visual freezing.
i ripped off the hsf and am considering buying a thermaltake crystal orb which puts out 12.6cfm @ 26db which is not terrible. firstly id like to know would this cooling solution suffice? secondly will it fit on the card? i say this because the orb has 3 holes in it formatted in a triangular pattern and my ge3 card has 4 mounting holes one on each corner. secondly... i just apply the crappy thermal paste that comes with it?? i also only have a 2 pin fan header on the card.. i believe this is a 3pin orb.. so i can just get a converter and plug into psu or possibly a fan header on the mobo??
also.. id like to know if my gpu has possibly suffered damage from my testing the system and the fan not spinning?
basically i want know if im wasting money on the crystal orb because my gpu is already burnt out (like running a cpu with a hsf that doesnt work or isnt properly installed).
and if you guys have any input on possibly cheaper/ better chipset vga cooling solutions.
thanks for your time.
