I think this will be the second time that Visiontek has dropped from the graphics card scene.
Yep. The first time they sold Nvidia cards. This time around they're selling ATI cards. What will they come back with the third time? Matrox? S3?
Intel Larrabee?

So I guess their lifetime warranty isn't as good as I thought. Figures.
Ask those who bought Visiontek GeForce cards.

Its a rumour atm, who knows.
Exactly! BITD when I owned a computer shop (for a decade, now still running under different ownership) a couple times a year people would ask us why we were going out of business... because they heard about it somewhere or other. We never did track down the source of those rumors, but we did literally outlast every other competitor in the whole county.
Heck, BFG had a few of its own going-out-of-business rumors last year.
This one about NVIDIA cutting out partners (including BFG), and another one that made the rounds in the industry and was spread by a certain individual.
Oh yeah, and a few weeks ago someone publicly on HardForums offered to help put BFG out of business.
Why do people say/do such stuff?

PNY is THE exclusive Nvidia partner for workstation products. They acquired that privilege when they bought out the dying Elsa several years back.
Ahhh, Quadro cards. Yes, PNY is the exclusive for retail Quadro products, but system builders can get OEM Quadro cards that aren't from PNY.
BTW, according to BFG's CEO that is not how they got the exclusive Quadro business, which I think happened around 2001 or so.

I'm pretty sure they only warranty to the original purchaser with receipt
That's like all other companies with lifetime warranties (except XFX, which extends to second owner but receipt and product registration still required).
