Visiontek 7970 - $380

$369 now and it comes with DiRT Showdown, Deus Ex, Nexiuz and Total War: Shogun 2 and Battlefield 3 and Sonic Generations. WOW

This is a sweet price. I promised to not buy another GPU this month though. Why so tempting.

I know I want to crossfire but I know I need to get at least a 850 watt PSU to do so. So I guess this is a good thing for my wallet.

This month alone I have had at least 6 different GPU's. Im pretty content at the moment, but a good deal is a good deal. I just wish AMD's HD3D worked as well as the 3Dvision, I could never get my AMD cards to put out three 120hz signals to my monitors. I would get one at 120hz and the other two would stay at 60hz, which sucks for 3d. Even 2 GTX 560's do three at 120hz.

If anyone gets this upgrading from a 6950 or similar I might be willing to buy/trade for your old card. Also would probably pay $10 for BF3 and/or DE:HR

meh... someone help me make up my mind... should i go with the 7950 for 309AR or hop on this deal?

Pros and cons to each. The 7950 is cheaper, should be quieter and cooler, and should overclock better (with the better cooler.

The 7970 will be faster (unless you get a high 7950 overclock), but has the poor reference cooler, which will be loud and hot.

The 7970 is much better at bitcoin mining, if you're into that or any other compute functions.

Edit: Personally I would only buy this if I were going to slap an aftermarket cooler on it. Since I'm an overclocker, I'd rather buy the Twin Frozr 7950 for $309 and overclock it to 1100+. It should run cooler and quieter than the 7970 at stock and should be very close in speed to a stock 7970.

Wow, awesome deal with 6 free games! Might buy this and just use my 680 as a PhysX card 😱

Kidding 😉

That's funny.

Thujone, I would go for this deal... It will easily OC to 1100mhz and will outperform a ref 680.

So tempting... Does anyone have any experience with this card from VisionTek?

i have one.. it's model # 900491 though... which comes with a lifetime warranty.
it's running flawlessly at 1125 Mhz.. watercooled.

the one at tigerdirect is model # 900556 and only carries a 3 year warranty.. that's the only difference that i can see.

Worth returning Amazon bought EVGA FTW (No re-stock fee) and getting this for $60 saved and an extra 1gb VRAM?

the funny thing is, i just had a 7970 delivered from newegg today, UPS package not opened yet... they'll take the card back, but not the games, so i'll get charged $99 for the games... i'll give them a call tomorrow to see though, since the UPS package hasn't been opened yet.
