This is a pretty handy little scanner, not photo quaility but nice for making copies of all your rebates! I particularly like the one touch features.

i have the older version, the 8100, but after a few tries, i have it workin' fine w/ WinXP. so this one should too. you just have to toy w/ loading the drivers a bit. i thought the 8700 is made w/ WinXP in mind. anyway, it's a great scanner, a bit on the thick side, but it makes great scans. got my 8100 free after rebate over a year ago and it's still good.

I like this scanner and it is well worth the cost considering the Paperport software that comes with it. Running fine on Win2000.

This scanner easily works with WinXP. I've had mine for quite a while. I'm selling it though, as I bought the Visioneer 8920 USB scanner from Office Max for $40 after rebate. near as I can tell, it's the same scanner but with with a slide/negative adapter and a backlight on the lid, as well as Photoshop Elements instead of the crappy MGI Photosuite LE. Still has the PaperPort 7 and the Textbridge (not sure what version). Not the best scanner in the world, but I do love the PaperPort software, as well as the price. I like the Twain interface as well.

I just got the 8920 from OM and the manual just says USB. The expensive model 9xxx, I believe, says USB 2.0 so I gather anything less than that model is most likely USB 1.1. I got the 8920+Cendyne drive for like $4 AR, $0 if ebates goes through.

On that note....
OM has the 8920 for $99.99-$20 Manufacturer-$20 Officemax = $39.99. It might be in store only, but if you want the slide and negative adapter...

Cheers

I'm not a mathematician, but isn't 99.99 - 40 = 59.99? :)

Ooops... sorry
In reality it is 99.99 - (20 Instant) - (20 Mfr. mail-in) - (20 OM mail-in) = 39.99

I picked one up. Amazon shipped fast, on it's way now. I have ABBYY 6.0 Pro, hopefully I can do some good OCR. This scanner is supported by ABBYY, which is very nice, especially for the price!

If anyone wants a cheap scanner supported by ABBYY now is your chance.

Where are these Mail In Rebates? I don't see them on the Office Max site, nor do I see them on the Visioneer website. I only see the $20 instant on Officemax.com

???
