VISA check card and price protection

I searched through the forum and did not see this mentioned in the past. I got a visa platinum check card from bank of america today and discovered they have a price protection benefit too.

It said" if you purchase an item with your card and later see the same item advertised for a lower price, you can received a refund for the difference." However, "Internet advertisement is excluded."

Well, it is not as good as blue, but if you can't get blue, this may be alternative.

Anyone used this feature before?

I have the same check card through BA, but the program as defined just started 1/1/2002 so I doubt anyone has completed a price guarantee claim. The program is actually a VISA sponsored program so it should be available on many private branded check cards. Be sure to read the fine print, including the underwriter's Virginia Surety Company) conditions in the benefits package. Since it is free you have nothing to loose by submitting a claim

Claims must be made within 10 days of the complete printed advertisement with the lower price. Exceptions are newspapers and magazoines. For these a complete page showing the advertisement and date are required. E-mail advertisements as well as limited distribution ads (ie sales clubs like Sams Club, Costco,etc..) are not eligible Receipts, phone quotes, or quantity quotes are not acceptable forms of price

NOt all VISA check cards participate so you will need to check withyour issuer to see if your card is covered. Here are the program details.

Yep, saw the fine print on my BA Platinum Check Card...no internet deals means this isn't nearly as good as AMEX Blue. Most B&M's will PM on the spot with a physical ad or circular, so having to submit a claim is just another step. Not bad for free, and you can get photo ID security for free as well Ugly cards though...more blue on there than platinum, I liked the look of my Gold Card better.
