Visa card possibly hacked

I have just returned from my bank after being told my visa check card was over the limit

authorizations for

74.59
300.00
729.21
564.38

were placed on my account, the 564.38 is for Cingular Wireless, the other charges can't be identified yet,the only places online that I've used that card are Paypal and webcertficate mastercard.

People look out, I had to fill out form after form, and identify the charges that are mine and list all outstanding good checks.Security says we won't know where this came from till we can see where the charges are orginating from
but this is going to be a huge PITA 🙁

dam.

I hope you get your money back and not have to pay for it.....

did you ever use your CC at a small gas station on the inside?

i know when i worked a few years ago at one the CC #'s printed up on every single receipt, most of the ppl didn't want the reciept, so i could have kept every single CC number i wanted. chances are someone stole it at a store, rather than it being stolen online.

That sucks 🙁 That's one of the reasons I dont use my Visa check card for anything except ATM withdrawals. I dont mind paying something directly from my checking account, I'll admit that is convenient, but there are just too many risks. It's much worse to have a check card stolen than to have your credit card stolen.

That does suck - do you use it for online purchases? I'm becoming increasingly wary of using my check card. I am near the point now where i"ll use it only for ATMs or if I use debit in a store; otherwise just use my credit card.

If you use a Credit Card or Debit Card for online purchases, it cannot be stressed enough to keep an eye on your account at all times. Most places give you 60 days to contest fraud charges. After that, you are SOL.

Baffled, let us know how it goes and if there is anything we can do to help you research this. Fraud burns my ass, especially stuff like this. :|
