*shrugs* A lot of the benefits are the same, but AMEX is a good company.

Seems like a good "I make so much money who cares about the annual fee? I'll use this if I ever drag my rich ass somewhere that AMEX isn't accepted."

It got picked apart quite thoroughly on FW Finance and the overwhelming consensus was that, for people who are willing to pay $500 a year for a credit card, the AmEx was far superior in perks. However, not every place takes AmEx.

One reason you see so many "elite" cards being pushed is that the merchants have to pay more for processing a purchase with one of those as opposed to the Platinum-Gold-Generic garden variety Visa/MC.

Because reading makes you not sound like a fucking retard.

People like you who feel compelled to reply without any information are the downfall of intellectual discussion around here.

Why don't you go back to Youtube and watch "angry Hitler" clips and leave the usual poorly written, ignorant comment there.

Visa black isn't all the special, people who think it is are probably confusing it with Amex Black.

Though Kranky, I don't see why the processing would cost more for an elite or black card. They go through the same networks... They might offer those cardholders some additional benefits to get them into the store because they probably have the means to spend lots.

What kind of transaction fee hike is implemented? Is it across the board Visa/MC/Amex? I'd be interested to see the numbers on that.

If you own a business look at your merchant account statement. The rates are different for the type of cards.

As pointed out above if you go to the Visa site for this card (blackcard.com) it says it has only been offered to 1% of US Residents.

Unlike your mentally deficient self I don't need a calculator to figure out 1% of 300 Million.

My goodness, you are the biggest moron on these forums.

The tiniest inkling of common sense would have told you Visa isn't including every person on the planet in their calculations. Otherwise the card would be no more rare than a Bank of America visa.

Across the board, at least for visa/MC.

Visa: See page 3, signature preferred column vs. others

MC: See rates for elite starting on page 61 vs other pages

Not sure on amex, I think discover is a flat 4.00% on all their cards.

AMEX Black is now $2,500 a year plus a $5,000 initiation fee. It was only $1,000 when I joined and AMEX grandfathered that rate for a while, but now they are having everyone pay $2,500.

It is a far, far, far superior card than this VISA knockoff. And although Barclays claim their Visa card is only offered to 1% of the population, in reality, they will accept almost everyone.

If you want to spend $500 on a card, get an AMEX Platinum card. The benefits of that card beats out this one hands down. Plus, no one rivals AMEX's customer service.

You're using it for pass through of volume business, though, right? I mean, for 99% of us, the Centurion would never pay itself back with its benefits.

These cards are either for business, the too rich to care or those pretending to be.

I've read some of the impressions of the Centurion card over at FWF. You might've been one of the commenters. Seems like a nice set of benefits for those that spend the amount necessary to even have one and are on the go enough to really use the concierge services.

I don't mind paying the annual fee on my Starwood card though :)
