Viruses

Know a few ppl who has had a stomach virus. Curious how is this transferred from person to person? Is it a germ in the air or something else. I looked on webmb for stomach virus but got nothing really. Whats the best way to help prevent getting it other than avoid these ppl?

One last thing how long does it take for the virus to die out in a household after symptoms are gone?

mayb they should use AVG or Norton ;p

How does it occur?

Gastroenteritis is caused by swallowing certain viruses. The body fluids of infected people contain the virus, sometimes even before their symptoms begin. The virus can be spread by direct contact with an infected person (for example, kissing or shaking hands) or by sharing food, drink, or eating utensils.

The virus enters the stomach and intestine and inflames the lining of these organs. As a result, the stomach and intestine are temporarily unable to perform their usual functions. The virus can also cause food to move more rapidly through your gastrointestinal (GI) tract.

Some bacteria and other tiny organisms called protozoa can cause infections that have symptoms similar to those of stomach flu.

How long do the effects last?

Stomach flu rarely lasts longer than 1 to 3 days. However, it may be 1 to 2 weeks before your bowel habits return completely to normal.

What can I do to help prevent stomach flu?

The single, most helpful way to prevent the spread of stomach flu is frequent, thorough handwashing. Also, avoid contact with the body fluids of an infected person, including saliva.

Most common stomach ailments are bacterial. However, there are definitely viruses that can cause diarrhea. The transmission of both (bacteria/viral) is most commonly fecal to oral. Usually people do not wash their hands properly and they spread the bug. However, there can be a common source issue, meaning they all ate the same infected item. The incubation period can be different for different people.

Well most my family has had it. I havent yet(knock on wood). Not saying I won't get it as I prob will end up with it. But right now I don't. I do know I wash my hands more than anyone in my family. Also I leave the room if someone sick comes in it. I wash them before I eat and a few more times throughout the day.

Stuff that ppl has touched(door knobs, remotes, ect) can be cleaned with alcohol to kill it? Or can it? How long does it stay in the house once everyone is over it? More less whens it safe to go back in 😀.

Use a diluted bleach solution. Cheap and effective. Careful with your clothes though.
