Virus?

Someone sent me an e-mail... but it's says the sender address is MY e-mail address. It has no topic heading and it only says "texte" in the body. It has a zip file attached called Business_dealing.zip. I'm not stupid enough to open it, but anyone have an idea what's going on here?

Duh. I meant WHAT SPECIFIC VIRUS. I already started a virus scan, I was just wondering what the name of it was, so I could look up info on what it would have done to my system. The fact that it sent an e-mail from me to me kind of concerns me, as it implies I may already have an active virus in addition to the zip file.

jiwg: if you and ironwing are so curious, I'll e-mail it to you both and you can run it to see the havoc it would cause if I was stupid enough to open the zip.

Yeesh.

It would end up with the other 20-30 viruses I get every day. Owning a website has its downside. :frown:

download the zip and scan it with your AV

mechBgon: thanks, 'preciate it. McAfee''s pretty good at catching new virus information, given that apparently the virus was released today.

Bagle has been around for some time, this is just a variant

This variant of Bagle appeared on the scope just a couple hours ago, and Mcafee does not have protection until tomorrow's 4618 DATs are released, so don't assume a clean scan means that it's safe.

Given I didn't open the attachment, hopefully I'm safe. I'm running an evaluation copy of Avast! right now, though in the next day or two I might download an evaluation of McAfee.
