Be careful around this virus people :|

I got this virus, or a variant of it a few weeks ago and its nasty..

If you get the virus, id say start backing up important stuff ASAP before it kills your computer. It hit a lot of my .exe's and wasnt able to save some things. And like stated, it will attack your Antivirus and render it useless so it spreads. Watch out people!

Man.. i gotta get some antivirus on this new harddrive..

I can't recall ever being the victim of a virus or even seeing one in action. I should open one up sometime just to see what it's like.

Stupid bugbear. I was called in (I own a PC repair/install business) and turns out all the problems where because of that virus. Ended up doing a reformat. I never get these things though.

Also, when it executes automaticly, does it ask if I want to run or open it or does it just execute without notice? On the customer's PC when I opened the email (she kept getting a bunch, I was checking what it was) the box came up asking to open it, it was a .bat file so I saved it and opened it with notepad out of curiosity but it was just a normal exe renamed.

Don't you open up the mail automatically when you use Microsoft Outlook Express anyway? I mean, to read an email, you have to click on it, then the mail pops up automatically. How else would you delete it without clicking on the email?

I run WinXP and Linux at home but at least my work PC is safe.... Good old Slackware 9 saves the day.

I liked that article about ridiculing people who open attachments. I can't at work, but I sure do to friends and family.

Hit the place where I work. You know that Interesting Company where you Buy stuff that is Manufactured for computers and things...

Took the east coast down completely and went as far as Boulder, CO and Austin, Tx. By the time it went to Cali, they were already shutting down the internet connections and saved most of the systems. But the virii folks along with Global Services got all of us back up and running by 4 PM east coast. The next day they had a tool to run everyone's machine that found and eliminated the virus and had new av code for everyone to load.

Big thanks to you folks, you rock!

I just got infected lastnight ! . My girlfriend opened up an attachment , etc.

I just ran Fix-It Utilities - Ontrack/Trend Micro Anti Virus protection & updated to the latest file pattern 561 & said goodbye to BugBear !
4 Hours tracking all the info & finally deleting it !

Luckily I run the Microsoft update about every 2 weeks or this may have been much worse !

I keep getting reinfected with the mumu.a virus. What's up with that? Even after I deleted it the day before.
