Virtual Server 2005 R2

I'm curious about general access to the virtual machines. Are the VM's affected by the security / firewall of the host server? For example, one of the VM's is a Server 2k3 box with a few hosted applications that general users will need to be able to connect to over the regular network. How does the VM advertise itself through the host and out into the general network?

Depends on how you set it up. Using bridged networking the VM acts like a completely separate machine on the network and the settings of the host won't affect it at all.
